Our fruit buyer visits Yau Ma Tei Wholesale Fruit Market every day to select suitable seasonal fruit. Fresh purchases arrive at our workshop at approximately 4am before the day’s hampers are prepared.
Every batch goes through our quality-control process. We examine the fruit for:
- Freshness and ripeness
- Colour and appearance
- Bruising or surface damage
- Shape and presentation
- Overall condition and suitability for gifting
Fruit quality changes daily. A variety that looked excellent yesterday may not be the best option today. We would rather substitute it with fresher, better-looking fruit than include an inferior item simply to follow a fixed list.
Why the fruit selection may change
Fruit is seasonal, and not every variety is available—or suitable for gifting—every day. Product photographs and content lists therefore represent the expected style and composition of the hamper.
When substitution is necessary, we aim to preserve the hamper’s overall value, quality, colour balance and presentation. Our priority is always to use the freshest and best-looking fruit available on the packing day.
Why certain fruits are generally excluded
Some attractive fruits are not well suited to wrapped gift hampers:
- Bananas ripen quickly, bruise easily and release more ethylene. Their elongated shape can also make them difficult to arrange securely and elegantly.
- Mangosteens may conceal insects around the calyx or within crevices in the rind, creating unnecessary risk inside a sealed hamper.
- Strawberries are delicate and highly sensitive to temperature changes. Condensation during packing and delivery can increase the risk of mould or spoilage.
These exclusions help us reduce avoidable freshness and presentation problems.
An ethylene absorber in every fruit hamper
We place an ethylene absorber inside every fruit hamper. It helps absorb ethylene gas released naturally by ripening fruit, slowing the ripening process while the hamper remains wrapped.
The absorber supports freshness during delivery, but it does not replace proper storage. The recipient should unpack and inspect the fruit reasonably soon after receiving the hamper.

Hong Kong Delivery, Urgent Orders and Tracking
Our Mid-Autumn hampers include free delivery across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories.
Standard festive delivery is arranged between 9am and 6pm. Because Mid-Autumn orders require fresh-fruit selection, production planning and route coordination, standard same-day delivery is not offered during the festive period.
If you need a last-minute delivery, contact us on +852 2730 0839. An urgent point-to-point delivery may sometimes be arranged for an additional charge, subject to:
- Fruit and mooncake availability
- Packing and production capacity
- Driver availability
- Delivery location

How will I know when the hamper has been delivered?
Customers receive:
- An email when the hamper is on its way
- A second email after delivery has been completed

How to Store Fruit and Mooncakes
The recipient should unwrap the hamper reasonably soon after delivery. Decorative wrapping can restrict airflow and retain heat or moisture, particularly during Hong Kong’s warm September weather.
Fruit storage
- Inspect the fruit and separate any item that is very ripe or damaged.
- Refrigerate apples, citrus fruit and Nashi pears if they will not be eaten soon.
- Allow mangoes and melons to ripen according to their condition, then refrigerate as appropriate.
- Keep fruit away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Follow any storage information supplied with the hamper.
Mooncake storage
Always follow the instructions printed on the original mooncake packaging.
Most traditional, commercially sealed mooncakes can be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, unless their packaging says otherwise.
The Peninsula’s Spring Moon mooncakes require refrigeration at 0–4°C. Snow-skin, chilled and other temperature-sensitive mooncakes must also be refrigerated or frozen according to their individual labels.
Customer-supplied mooncakes should remain in their original packaging so the recipient can see the correct expiry date and storage instructions.
